Knives - Scrapers - Chisels

The Medicon ophthalmology range of knives, scrapers and chisels includes corneal knives, corneal scrapers and extirpation chisels. These can be used in ophthalmic procedures. Ophthalmology knives are used to make incisions to the cornea, anterior chamber, make sclerocorneal tunnels in "small incision cataract surgery" or make intraocular manoeuvres such as the Ziegler's knife. The ophthalmology knives range includes corneal knives, sclerand knives, cataract knives and keratoplastic knives.

Corneal scrapers are used in diagnosis purposes during a superficial keratectomy which is used to identify the cause of infection in the cornea. It can be used to remove diseased cells on the surface of the cornea in the surgeon's rooms, clinic or healthcare facility. Ophthalmology scrapers are used to remove debris or parts of the eyeball during surgery including membrane to reduce inflammation or infection.

Ophthalmology chisels are used to cut and shape parts of the eyeball, lacrimal sac or surrounds..

The range includes Kuhnt corneal scrapers, Gill corneal knives, Rollet extirpation chisel and Tooke corneal knife
